MEMBERS ELECTED.
Interest in the triennial general elections was evidenced by the large assemblage at the WAIPA POST offices last night to watch the results of that days polling. The returns were exceptionally slow in coming to hand and it was not until midnight that any definite idea could be given of the returns for even the adjoining electorates, but when the results were announced the crowd was not slow to respond with cheers or groans as an expression of its pent up feelings. The bulk of the returns were incomplete at the time of the last advice which was received at 2 a.m. but although the figures stated below may vary to a certain extent, the result cannot be seriously effected. The interest in which the various candidates are standing is indicated as follows : —“ G,” Government; “ O,” Opposition ; “I,” Independent; L.L.N.,” Liberal-Labour-No-License; “L,” Labour; “ P,” Prohibitionist; and " S,” Socialist.
