TE AWAMUTU LAWN TENNIS CLUB.

OFFICIAL OPENING POST-

PONED.

Owingto the stormy weather on Wednesday morning it was found necessary to postpone the official opening of the above club, which was to have taken place that afternoon. In the earlier hours of the morning the downpour was exceptionally heavy, and as a result the courts and bowling greens were flooded. As the day wore on the weather cleared somewhat, and up to the last moment the committee were in hopes of holding the tournament as arranged, and formally declaring the season open. A fairly large number of members and friends were present, together with representatives from neighbouring clubs, and when the decision of the committee was made known a few friendly matches were played. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies, and, notwithstanding the general disappointment of all, a very enjoyable afternoon was spent.
