KIHIKIHI HACK RACING CLUB

GENERAL MEETING. A general meeting of the Kihikihi Hack Racing Club was held in the Town Hall on Friday evening last. Mr A..McCardle occupied the chair. The following report and statement of the financial position were read by the secretary (Mr Fraser Smith : " The year just concluded has, from the point of view of finance, proved highly satisfactory. After increasing the prize list by a sum of £lB to £2O above that of the previous year, a credit balance of £2O 17s 4d ts carried forward. The balance of £l9 5s 2d from the previous year's working, together with an amount of £7 handed over by the Domain Board (after a combined meeting of the Board and your own committee), and the balance of £6 9s at present in trust at the Post Office Savings Bank, added to this year's baiance, leaves a grand total in hand of £43 8s 3d. As a result of the conference already referred to, the sum of £2 6s (in addition to the usual deductions) was handed as a donation to the Domain Board. From the racing point of view the last meeting was most successful. The entries showed a marked increase, and the interest and attendance of the public were matters for much gratification. It is with much pleasure that your committee is able to report the renewal of the club's license, especially in view of the less fortunate experience of many other clubs in this respect. The substantial balance in hand and the generally successful character of last year's meeting have led your committee to strongly recommend a further increase in the value ot prizes. The position of the club generally is one that gives cause for congratulation and great encouragement in regard to the prospects, for the future."

The death of Mr P. O'Connor having rendered vacant the position of president, Mr W. PI. Grace was unanimously elected to that office. The election of officers was then proceeded with.
