TE AWAMUTU RAILWAY STATION.
ADDITIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS.
With the exception of the painting of the whole of the structure, the new portion of the local railway station is completed, and thus better convenience is provided for both the travelling public, and the staff! The new portion of the building has been converted into an office, the need of more accommodation in this direction having been felt for some considerabld time. The public counter has been enlarged to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business, and the whole of the buildings are to be renovated throughout. A verannah has been erected for the full length of the buildings, thus providing much required shelter.
That Te Awamutu it, progressing is evidenced by the returns of this Department. The outward traffic of the Te Awamutu station amounted to but a few. pounds off £IO,OOO. This is a marked increas on any former return, arid it is quite evident that, if the amount of business increases at the same rate as of recent years, further additions will have to be put in hand at a comparatively early date. :
