POST OFFICE TOWER.

The contractor tor the new post office at Te Awamutu (Mr R. Orr) was advised by telephone, by his firm in Auckland this morning, that the plans of the tower to be erected to provide for the clock so generously given by Mr Win. Taylor have been handed to them by the Pubic Works Department. ’ The tower is 37ft in height, with dome roof and will be built in the centre of the front of the building, beingset 6ft into building, so that the front wall of tower will project-a similar distance beyond the main building. It will be necessary to pull down the present doorway and the wall behind it to the necessary 12ft width of tower. It is expected that the work will be put in hand at once.
