The concert in connection with the Presbyterian Church, Kihikihi, which was recently postponed, will be held on October sth, and an announcement to this effect appears in another column.

An accident occurred in the main street this morning. Ahorse belonging to Mr J. M. Bruce was being driven to the creamery, and when going round Ahier’s corner the horse became unmanageable, and dashed into another horse belonging to Mr D. Meredith, which was being ridden round the corner from the opposite direction.; The force of the impact was sufficient to carry both horse and rider some distance until a verandah post stayed further progress. The shaft of the milk-waggon entered the horse’s side, and the injuries were so severe that it had to be destroyed. Mr Meredith estimates his loss at
At a meeting of the Te Awamutu Town Band held early in the week it was decided to hold a concert on December Ist., and a committee was appointed to make the necessary arrangements. This concert is being held to obtain funds for providing uniforms for the members, and so worthy an object will doubtless nieet with the support of all residents. The weekly subscriptions of band members are being devotad to this fund, and already there is a very substantial amount subscribed, and we feel sure the public will, in a practical manner further the efforts of the band in this direction. In connection with thts concert an Art Union will, subject to the approval of the Colonial Secretary, be held, and steps have been taken to secure the necessary authority.
