Arrangements are now well in hand for the masquerade and fancy dress dance to be held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening next in connection with the local Philharmonic Society.
It is estimated, (reports the Levin "Chronicle") that at present Levii is sending from one thousand to fifteen hundred dozen eggs to the Wellington market every week.
. For the purposes of forming a road a proclamation affecting certain lands in Block VII, Pirongia Survey District, appears in another column. Those interested will doubtless carefully note the contents.
Letters and telegrams have been forwarded to Sir John Findlay asking him to stand for Egrnont. It would be interesting to Egrnont settlers to be courted by the Knight as it would mean that Mr Jellicoe would also come " a-wooing." Coyish times would then be in store for the electors, comments the Opunake Times.
Good progress is being made with the bi4ck and ferro-concrete buildings now in course of erec--1011 in the main street. Bockett's .uildings are nearing completion, ..uid the fine ferro-concrete structure going up for Mr J. B. Teasdale is well up into the second storey. The new post office walls are now up to the first scaffolding.
The Post and Telegraph Office will observe a partial holiday on Monday, 25th inst.. Dominion Day, re-opening from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. only. No Savings Bank or Money Order business will be transacted. The Telephone Exchange will observe a close holiday. Telegrams will be accepted for transmission between 9 and 10 a.m. There will be no delivery by carrier on Monday.
We give a final reminder of the visit of the Cambridge Comedy Company, who show in the Town Hall to-morrow (Saturday) night. It is gratifying to note the amount of interest shown by residents throughout the town in this visit, and it is safe to say that a packed house will result, and thus provide ample funds for the beautifying of our stage. Apart from the object for which funds are being obtained the company is deserving of fullest support, and a most enjoyable evening is assured. The box plan is open at Le Sueur's, and those desirous of securing a seat should lose no time in booking;
