OTOROHANGA.
(Own Correspondent.)
The clerk to the Town Board has been notified that the Hon. Buddo has affixed his signature to the copy of By-laws as passed by the Otorohanga Town Board, and that the By-laws, are gazetted ■to bein force from June, IQH. The" Town Board are busy preparing "-estimates for metalling the main street, and they intend asking the ratepayers' sanction to raise a loan for that purpose, and another loan to build the hall that a large number of citizens requested the Board to erect at an early date, it is to be hoped that the matter of metalling main streets will be attended to as soon as possible, as we do not wish to go through another wet season with the roads in the same disgraceful condition they have been. The outside districts appear to be well catered for this year, as contracts for forming and metalling to the extent of £IO,OOO have either been let or tenders called for. The bulk of the money is to be spent on the OtorohangaPirongia road and the Gtoro-hanga-Honikiwi road and the Caves road is also receiving attention. Messrs Ormsby Bros. are the successful tenderers for carting cream from Te Rati Mauku to the railway, and they will bring the cream to Otorohanga station instead of Te Awamutu as formerly. The' local creamery opened last week, and although there were not many suppliers to commence with they are increasing every day, and several new suppliers are supplying. Dairying is increasing very fast. There have been quite a number of milking machines installed, and a large number of the settlers from four miles out have got in separators. Several, of the settlers on the Rangitoto block have' combined ana are calling for tenders for carting their cream to Otorohanga. At a meeting of tire Football Club on Saturday evening it was decided to present medals to the men who had played in at least three matches this season, and the club donated some of their own funds to augment the £5 5s voted by the Union to the winning team. A claim of £1 Is on the accident fund was passed for payment. It is proposod to celebrate the winning of the medals and Banner arid Cup for the second time in succession by giving a social evening at which the medals will be presented. The date of the social is not yet decided. iVir J. Gardner has purchased Mr Encson's saddlery business. During the time has been branch manager, Mr Gardner has made himself very popular.
