TE AWAMUTU CROQUET CLUB.
The appreciation of the action of the Punui Domain Board in forming a croquet lawn at the Victoria Park was shown by the large attendance of ladies at the Public Library on Wednesday afternoon when a meeting was held to consider the formation of a club to take over the green.
Mrs White was voted to the chair.
It was unanimously decided to form a club to be called the Te Awamutu Croquet Club.
Miss Stewart was elected Secretary and Treasurer for the ensuing season.
Mesdames Miller, Collins and Lenehan were appointed a committee to make the necessary preliminary arrangements in connection with the Club.
The subscription was fixed at 7s 6d for the ensuing season.
It was decided to have the grass cut and the green regularly rolled so as to be in order for the official opening, which is expected to take place during October.
A meeting of members will be held at a later date to appoint p permanent officers and complete the arrangements. A full croquet set was placed at the disposal of the Club for the first season.
