DISTRICT NEWS.

fort W 7 ftp ~ (Own Correspondent.) A very successful farewell social was given by the residents of Kawa in honor of Messrs Ramsey, O'Donneli, and Fivey, who are leaving the district. A good supper was provided, by the ladies, and dancing was kept up till the small hours. A few nights later Messrs Ramsey, O'Donneli and Fivey entertained their friends at a smoke concert. Songs were sung by Messrs Valder, Howe, Hitchcock, Cunningham, and Morris, while Mr Brown sen. gave a very amusing reading entitled, "Professor Fondlast," which brought down the house. The usual toasts were duly proposed and honoured, and " Auld Lang Syne" concluded a very enjoyable evening. A telephone bureau is now installed at Kawa, which will prove a boon to the settlers.
