RANGIAOHIA ROAD BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of the above Board took place on Saturday last. There were present : Messrs D. Cavanagh (chairman) W. Long, R. Ramsey, J. Melville, Geo. McGhie, and the supervisor (Mr W. Mandeno).

The chairman reported on the unsafe condition of Pollard's bridge over the Mangapiko stream near Mr Bond's farm. It was decided to have the necessary repairs carried out forthwith, Mr Mandeno stated that he had instructed the surveyors to adjust the areas in connection with the closing of Holden's road. The work had been completed and the matter was now being pushed on.

Two applications were received for the position of manager of the road grader,viz., J. Reilly ana Hall Bros. The first-named was appoi-ited,wages to be 37s 6d per day during all weathers, the applicant to find the necessary horse power, and on wet days when the grader could not be worked, to engage himself attending to.the water tables and potter about generally. Mr Swarbrick (solicitor) wrote forwarding documents in connection with the £2,000 for road metal.

Mr Greenslade, M.P. replied, saying that he would be pleased to do all in his power to obtain a grant on the public estimates of £2,000 for expenditure in the road district;

. The supervisor reported his having received two tenders for carting sand for the purpose of blinding the road metal at Hairini —Bowman and McKinder 4s 3d per yard, Thompson Bros., 4s per yard. The lowest tender had been accepted. Mr Frank Potts waited on the Board and made application for some assistance in connection with the work of forming the old mill road running through his farm on to Pukekura. —It was resolved to vote £6 towards same, and that Messrs Turney and Corrigan be notified to remove their gates off the road. Mr Poi;ts stated that when this road was made passable the journey from Te Awamutu to Cambridge would be shortened by some seven or eight miles. The clerk was instructed to notify Miss Bruce to clear her road side of noxious weeds. It was decided to order one thousand yards of Te Kuiti road metal forthwith.

The chairman reported his having had a communication from a firm at Te Aroha re supply of metal for roads. The quotation was not to hand.

Mr McGhie was authorised to attend to the necessary repairs on the back Te Awamutu-Kihi-kihi road near Mr Geo. Paul's. I^S The following acco mts were passed Jor payment: —Argus £5 3s 6d, Waipa County Council £l2 6s, C. Bygrave I2s, C. Drabble 10s.
