DISTRICT NEWS.

OTOROHANGA.

(Own Correspondent.)

The second annual meeting of the Otorohanga Saleyards Company was held in Turner's Hall on Friday Ist September 1911. ; There were about 20 shareholders present. The chairman stated that the meeting was to,receive the directors' report and balance sheet. They had had a very satisfactory year and had done a lot of work since they had got the freehold. They had erected very substantial yards, which were a great convenience to settlers. The opening sale had been a very successful one, and the second sale had been very satisfactory. Since the balance sheet been printed the secretary ha*received a great number of calls, some members preferring to pay their calls in advance to save the trouble of paying every three months. He has received an extra £55 I2s. It was resolved that the balance sheet as presented ' be received.

The retiring directors R. G. Mathers and R. F. Gregg were re-elected without opposition.

Mr F. Forster was appointed auditor.

A general discussion took place on the suggestion that a gully in the yard' be filled in with sawdust, two directors were appointed to report on the suggestion,
