THE LAMBING SEASON.
ABOUT LEVIN. A Levin farmer in discussing farming matter in general with a Chronicle reporter, said that the present season was a splendid one for lambing. Grass was not growing very quickly, but this was due to the severe night frosts. Still, there was, so far as he and his neighbours were concerned, plenty of feed. “This is an abnormal August,” he said. “It really should have rained double what it has done, but the ground got a good soaking in July. Though rain is badly wanted it is beautiful weather for lambs.”
