TE AWAMUTU TOWN BAND.
OPENING OF BAND ROOM.
On Friday evening last the new band room of the Te Awamutu Town Band was formally opened with a practice. There wasla record attendance of members. In the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr W. F. Stewart) the conductor (Mr. Moeller) made a few appropriate remarks, during which he thanked the Town Board for their generosity in providing the band with such fine accommodation. On behalf of the members he placed on record the appreciation of the president's unceasing efforts to promote the movement which resulted in the erection of the building. During the evening a fruit supper, provided by the generosity of Messrs W. F. Stewart and O. Heerdegen, was partaken of. Mr Bockett, who was present as representative of the Town Board, gave a donation of lOs 6d to the band funds.
The new building < covers a ground space of 33 feet by 16 feet. The band room is 25 feet by 16 feet, and the balance of the space provides office accommodation for the auctioneering firms.
