TO THE EDITOR
SIR, —Allow me to congratulate you on the fact that the Chamber of Commerce is in all probability likely to become an accomplished fact. At the meeting to-morrow night the matter will no doubt be put on a sound footing, and, given capable and wise officers, the institution should be a great help to our community. It will give expression to public opinion, and also give opportunity, as need arises, to push the trade of the town. We have been too long a community of units without coherence and unity. If the business men and all interested in the welfare of Te Awamutu join this organisation it will enable the town to express itself as it ought, and to bring pressure to bear where needed. I also hope to see the farmers taking a large interest in it, as the question of native lands is one that should oe dealt with at once. —I am, etc., Civis.
