PROGRESSIVE TE AWAMUTU.
TO THE EDITOR. SIR., —As a visitor to your town may I say how delighted I am to note its rapid growth. Houses and shops going up in all directions ; evidently before long your town will assume greater proportions, and take its place as one of the most flourishing towns in the Waikato. As a strange'-, might I ask if you have any local authority to look after the roads and footpaths ? From a look at them at the present time, I should say that they are left to look after themselves. How do you people get about in the dark ? or do you ali stay home after sunset ? If you have a local body they ought to get to work at once. All the towns along the line are going in for improvements — water, drainage, good roads, etc. As a friendly visitor, might I be allowed to urge upon your authorities a little more speed, or you will certainly be left behind. —I am, etc., WELL-WISHER.
