PUBLIC MEETING.
BAND ROTUNDA—CORONATION MEMORIAL.
At a public meeting held on Saturday last (Mr C. Bowden presiding) it was resolved that a Band Rotunda be erected in Victoria Park to commemorate the Coronation of King George V.; that Messrs Warren, Edgecumbe, and Matthews be a sub-commit-tee to prepare plans and full data to be submitted to the public from whom subscriptions to the amount of not less than £75 be collected. The amount collected will carry the Government subsidy of £1 for £1 up to £75. RAILWAY STATION.
The matter of the accommodation at the Railway Station came under discussion, and it was the unanimous opinion of the meeting that the disgraceful condition of the buildings and the approaches thereto called for the immediate attention of the railway authorities. The whole of the buildings should be replaced and the approaches thereto converted from their almost impassable condition to reasonable tracks for both foot and vehicular traffic. It was said to be no uncommon sight to see ladies and children carried through this quagmire.
