Thursday was observed as a close holiday by all local tradespeople. HMO preparation had been madtf for any special Coronation celebrations except that the school children were assembled to salute the flag and receive the Coronation medals following which the school was closed for the midwinter holidays.
The sheep dog trials were_ continued under very unpropitious weather conditions. Eleven dogs competed and a fair number ol spectators were present. The football match Old Times v. Ohaupo Club had to be postponed owing to the un 1 avoi \ ra '..■(• weather conditions.
In the evening a dance in conneciion with the Ohaupo football
club was held. The weather prevented a large attendance but a very enjoyable evening was spent.
