THE SAME EVERYWHERE.
Germany has the same tale to record as England and other Countries in reference to the influence of alcohol on the child-life of the land. Recently the society for the care of the young had reported to' it 1695 cases which represented tragedies of a heartbreaking character, ancHn each case the direct or indirect cause was alcohol. We may be thankful in New Zealand that we have not reached a condition of things such as obtains in older lands, but we need to be on our guard. The drink traffic cannot be run without boys; it must have new material to use as the old dies off,and somebody's boys will be required if we continue to license the traffic. Every father and mother ought to vote against the drink, as we are confident no parent would like to see his child a victim of alcohol; therefore the only safe course is to vote it out.
