COMMERCIAL.

Messrs Dalgety and Company report:— HAMILTON.

At Hamilton on Thursday, May 25th, we held our usual tri-weekly sale. A good yarning of cattle and sheep (especially wethers) came forward. There was keen competition for the wethers, which were a very fine lot from the Pahiatua district, and all were sold at very satisfactory prices. Beef was a little easier, no doubt on account of the Auckland market being lower than usual. We were, however, able to quit all with the exception of one lot. Heifers in calf sold fairly' well. A choice line of Jersey cross brought from £8 to £8 3s 6d. Pigs were in poor demand. The following prices were realised : Prime fat wethers £l 2s 6d, fat wethers 19s to £l Os 6d, forward wethers 4 and 6 tooth 16s sd, fat ewes 13s 6d, fat lambs 9s 3d to 9s 7d, weaner pigs 7s, sow £1 10s, fat steers £7 is, fat heifers £5 18s to £6 15s, 2% year steers £4, yearling steers £2, heifers in calf £4 ss, £5 5s to £8 2s 6d, calves £l, bulls £3 10s to £4 ss. NGARUAWAHIA.

At Ngaruawahia on Friday last we held our usual 1 monthly sale, when we had a fair yarding of sheep and a small yarding of cattle. The sheep consisted mostly of ewes indamb, for which there was little demand, but we managed to clear all with the exception of two lines. Cattle were not very brisk, yearling heifers bringing £1 12s, calves 14s 6d to £l, springing cows £4 to £6 ss. OTOROHANGA.

On Friday last we held our second combined sale in the Otorohanga yards. There was a very fair entry of both cattle and sheep, and a very fair sale resulted for the time of the year. We yarded 120 head of cattle and 150 sheep, all of which, with the exception of one pen of heifers and a line of hoggets, were disposed of, either under the hammer or after the sale. The following prices were realised : Steers 2t02 22y 2 year £4 14s to £5 4s, heifers in calf £5 to £5 17s 6d, dairy cows £6 to £8 10s, calves 26s to 365, forward wethers 15s gd, no demand for hoggets.
