PROPOSED WATER SUPPLY FOR TE AWAMUTU.
At the last regular meeting of Te Awamutu Town Board it was decided to inspect two sites for the above water supply and yesterday the members of the Board (Messrs Bowden, Hyde, White, Wallace and Mathews) together with Mr Chen ery Suggate M.I.C.E visited the site of the proposed source on Pirongia mountain.
Arriving at the site It was found that a never-failing supply was available from aheightwhich would give ample pressure for general purposes. In case of fire the pressure obtained from this source would carry the "water easily over a three-storied building at any portion of the town area. The water, which from the spring near the top of the mountain, flows over a stony bed appears to be of very clear quality. The Board intend visiting the site at Maungatautari at an early date after which the engineer will prepare a report showing levels and details of both schemes, which report will appear in our; columns when available.
