BAND OF HOPE MEETING.

It was the youngsters' night last night, and consequently there was a large attendance of parents at the first meeting of the Band of Hope, for the season. The Rev. W. Woollass presided and a most excellent programme was. submitted, all the items were given by the children who had been trained by Mrs Woollass. The items were given with great effect, nearly all of them being encored. After the opening exercises the following programme was given : Piano solo, Miss J. Irvine; "A.8.C.," five girls; march and song, "The Streamlet," eight girls; recitation, Miss R. Hutt; song , and chorus, Miss Rene Andrew; > recitation, Miss B. Bayly ; song, "'Chick a dee," five girls; recitation, Master W. Groves; song, Master Roy Andrew ; lullaby, eight girls; recitation, Miss Rene Andrew ; piano duet, Messrs B. Bayly and R. Andrew ; " Poor Old Joe," eight girls ; " Sleep, Baby Sleep," eight girls. The children entered into the spirit of the pieces and gave them in fine style, which the audience evidently enjoyed as they . applauded very heartily. Miss Kathleen Galbraith acted as accompanist throughout. On the motion of the chairman a very hearty .vote of thanks was passed to all the performers, and the meeting closed with the Benediction.
