DANCE AT TE AWAMUTU.
The first dance in connection with the Te Awamutu Rudge Cycling Club was held in the Town Hall bn Friday evening last. The organising of this function reflects great credit upon the committee—the decorations being a special feature, and showed that the club must have received the support of all members. In the supper room, too, the results of organisation were evident, preparation having 'been made to satisfy the wishes of all present. There were approximately 60 couple on the floor, and from the manner of all there can be no question as to the success of the evening. Dancing was commenced at 8 p.m. and kept up until the early hours. The M’s.C. for the evening were Messrs J. H. Ansell, C. Davis and R. Clark, all of whom worked well to carry the programme through in a satisfactory manner. Mesdames Miller and Collins acted as chaperones, and to them the thanks of the club members is extended. During the evening Mr W. G. Abbott (president) in a wellchosen speech, presented the several prizes won during the past season. These were : II Mile Race. —Cup, won by T. Davis; medal, won by F. North (fastest time). lO l / 2 Mile Race. —Medals, won by R. Clarke and F. Smith. 17 Mile Race. —Medal won by A. Robinson ; trophy won by L. North. 27 Mile Race.—Set of tyres, T. Mankelow ; trophy, A. Giffney; trophy, L. North. 7% Mile Race.—Ladies’ Bracelet, L 5 North. Kxcellenjt music was rendered by a smM orchestra under the baton of Mr C. Moeller, which was highly appreciated. It is the intention of the Club te hold a similar entertainment at a future date, an announcement that will be read with pleasure by all present on Friday evening.
