MATIERE CRICKETERS AT TE AWAMUTU.
A team of cricketers from Matiere (King Country) visited Te Awamutu on Saturday last, and met the local eleven on the Te Awamutu cricket ground. There were a number of spectators, for whom the match was very interesting and exciting. Although threatening, the weather did not interfere with the play, one or two slight showers only falling. On Sunday the members of the local team drove the visitors to the residence of the president at Hairini, where a most enjoyable day was spent. The Matiere players left for Hamilton on Monday, where a match with the Hamilton team was played,
