BEAUPARTIR ’S FINE RECORD. The three-year-old Beaupartir, winner of the Easter Handicap and the Great Northern St. Leger at the recent meeting at Ellerslie, has a record for consistency that is hard to beat. Up to the present he has contested 13 races and has been only once unplaced. That was when he ran a very close fourth behind Smoke Screen, Stretto, and Gay Son in the King’s Plate, 1 mile, at the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting. On that occasion Smoke Screen had to establish a New Zealand record of lmin. 35 3-ssoc. to win, and even though he was unplaced Beaupartir registered a meritorious performance. With five wins and seven seconds to his credit, Beaupartir has earned £2805 in stakes, besides a gold cup valued at £IOO, and his latest form has been so good that he appears certain to extend his . winning record much further if all goes well with him. An interesting fact regarding the win of Beaupartir in the Great North era St. Leger is that his owner, Mr T. H. Lowry, won the race when it was first decided in 1916 with Desert Gold. Mr Lowry has attempted to win the event on a number of occasions since, hut he was unsuccessful until Beaupartir succeeded.
