CHAMPION FOURS COMPETITION OPENS AT WAIPAWA NEXT SATURDAY. The Hawke’s Bay Bowling Centre’s Champion Fours competition will commence next Saturday, and will he played on three consecutive Saturdays, on Waipawa, Heretaunga and Napier Bowling Club’s greens, play commencing each day at 9 a.m. sharp. There will be three rounds each of 21 heads. Morning and afternoon tea will be provided on all greens at a small charge, players to make their own luncheon arrangements. One of the main factors in the success of the returned soldiers’ bowling tournament held at Waipawa last Sunday was the excellent condition of the green. Thanks for this are largely due to the club groundsman, Mr R. Petherick, who “shaved” the green in the morning and gave it an extra rolling during the luncheon adjournment.
