HAWKE’S BAY TOURING TEAM WIN AGAINST CANTERBURY. Playing Canterbury at Lancaster Park, Christchurch, on Wednesday, the Hawke’s Bay representative touring' team won by 15 points to six. The game was open and spectacular, with Hawke’s Bay always in the picture. The scorers for Hawke’s Bay were: Fox* a try and two penalty goals; Wilson, a try; Bradley, a penalty goal. For Canterbury Foley scored a try and Heazlewood kicked a penalty goal. The presence of Dalton, an experienced hooker, in the Bay scrum made all' the difference to the forwards. Hawke’s Bay play Southland at Invercargill to-morrow. The match will not be broadcast. On Wednesday they play Otago for the Ranfurly Shield. SHIELD MATCH. OTA OO SUCCESSFUL AGAINST SOUTH CANTERBURY. Otago were successful in retaining the Ranfurly Shield against South Canterbury by 27 points to 16. The Otago score was composed of two penalty goals by Taylor, two potted goals by Trevathan, and tries by McLelland, Parkhili and Taylor, one being converted by Taylor and one by Trevathan. Morrison registered the whole of the points scored by South Canterbury, kicking four penalty goals and also a field goal. The game was marked by solid encounters between the forwards, hut the hack play on both sides lacked finish. RUGBY IN EIJI. MAORI TEAM BEATEN IN SECOND TEST. Advic? from Suva states that in
a game that was fast and open despite the greasy ground, Fiji defeated the touring Maori Rugby team in the second test by eleven points to five—two tries and a converted try to a converted try.
