LARGELY USED FOR ADVERTISING MATTER. SYDNEY, Last night. “I am not impressed,” said the Minister of Defence, Mr H. V. Thorby, when his attention was directed to the large quantity of ordinary mails being received from New Zealand for transport by the flying-boat service to England. Mr Thorby added that at present the aerial mail service from Britain and New Zealand was being extensively used for the sending of circulars and other advertising matter. “It was never intended that the flying-boat service should he subsidised for such a purpose,” he declared.
