EMGLAND'S LOWEST FEES INCREASE IN POOR APPLICANTS. LONDON, January 29. A divorce which cost the petitioner only Cs Id, including expenses for the decree absolute, was dealt with last year by Bradford Poor Persons Committee, it was revealed this week. The costs in another action amounted to 9s Id. Mr R. M. Priestley, a Bradford solicitor, said this week: “ A person worth not more than £SO in goods or money, and earning not more than £2 a week, can seek the hid of the Poor Persons Divorce Committee, but proceedings are instituted at the discretion of the committee. Before a ease is considered by the committee, the applicant has to deposit £5 to pay expenses, and the balance is afterwards returned. The two cases reported are the lowest costs ever incurred in a local divorce action.”
