LABOR CANDIDATES
FOR CANTERBURY SEATS. CHRISTCHURCH, Last night. Labor candidates for the six Parliamentary seats at Christchurch have been endorsed by the North Canterbury Labor Representation Committee, according to a statement by the secretary of the committee, Mr R. At. Maefarlane. Five of the candidates arc sitting members, and Mr Macfarlane, the remaining one, contested the Christchurch North seat in 1935. The candidates and the scats they will contest are:— Mr C. Morgan Williams; Lyttelton, Air T. H. Al('Combs; Avon, lion. D. G. Sullivan; Christchurch East, Hon. H. T. Armstrong; Christchurch South, Air E. J. Howard; Christchurch North, Air R. M. Maefarlane. All except Mr Maefarlane were nominated by 21 affiliated organisations. Mr Alacfarlane was nominated by 20 organisations affiliated to the Labor Representation Committee. For the Riccarton seat held by Mr H. S. S. Kyle six nominations have been received. The nominees will be asked if they are prepared to accept nomination. The replies will be considered when the committee meets on March 11th. The committee is assisting in the organisation for candidature of the Hurunui scat held by the Rt. Hon. G. AY. Forbes.
