HIGHEST PRICE- FOR TEN YEARS. AUCKLAND, Last night. With prices for New Zealand butter in London at the highest level since the spring of 1930 the market position to-day is in striking contrast with that of recent years. Following a rise of 4s, the price is between 131 s and 1325. This compares with 101 s to 102 s twelve months ago. Cable advice states that the market is firm at the higher level. The price of Danish butter is 140 s. According- to the New Zealand Dairy Board’s quotations Dominion butter fell below 132 s in the middle of September, 1930, and has remained below that level, with fluctuating weakness and strength, until the present week. The prices for the early months of 1930 were between 130 s anil lfiOs. The latest advance represents a continuation of the rise which began two or three weeks ago. Converted into New Zealand currency, the price to-day is over 160 s and shows a wide margin over the amount of 123 s 8d (New Zealand currency) required to cover the Government guaranteed price.
