WAIROA SLANDER ACTION
AERDICT FOR PLAINTIFF.
WAIROA, Last night. At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., delivered a reserved judgment in a slander action heard last Court day. The plaintiff was C. J. P. Prewitt, engineer to the Wairoa Power Board, and the defendant, TI. L. Harker, Mayor of Wairoa. The claim was for £75, and the Magistrate awarded damages of £so* with costs. Mr L. T. Burnard, of Gisborne, appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr S. Beaufry for the defendant. An appeal was lodged against the judgment.
