ODDFELLOWSHIP.

LOYAL ABBOTSFORD LODGE. The quarterly meeting of the Loyal Abbotstord Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., was held in the Lodgeroom, Kenilworth street, on Friday evening, N.G. Bro. J. Kirk presiding over a fair attendance of members. Sick pay totalling £l2 3s 4d and accounts totalling £l9O 4s 9d were passed for payment. The secretary placed before the meeting the statement of accounts and balance-sheet for the year ending 30th November, 1934, and the same was adopted. P.G.’s Bros. H. W. Gallagher, E. C. Kingston and W. J. Grainger were re-elected to the Management Committee, and P.G. Bro. F. C. Mitchell was re-elected as auditor. Bro. Gallagher was also re-elected as Lecture Master, and P.G. Bro. F. C. Wallis was appointed sick visitor. The following Social Committee v.as appointed:—X.G. Bro. J. Kirk, Y.G. Bro. H. Mustchin, I.P.X.G. Bro. W. J. Harris, E.S. Bro. J. Bosley. P.G. Bro. E. Kingston, Sisters Harris, Kingston, Gallagher, Goodwin. The secretary advised that the District Conference would be held at Te Re nga Lodge, Wairoa, on Saturday, llhh Marcl . and it would be necessary for the lodge to decide what representation should be sent. —On the motion of Director Bro. X. J. McKay it was decided to send full representation, and the following were appointed to represent the lodge:—Sister E. Fellow (F.S.), X.G. Bro. J. Kirk, P.G.’s Bros. IT. Gallagher, A. D. Kerr and E. C. Kingston. The secretary reported that a subcommittee had been set up by the Management Committeee to go into the matter of renewal of the hospital agreement, and it was decided that the sub-committee have power to finalise arrangements and have the agreement completed by the lodge officers. At the conclusion of the meeting supper was provided by the Social Committee. Arrangements were also made to run a pairs tournament with the indoor bowls, and entries were received from five teams. Entries will close next lodge night, after which the draw will be made and the tournament commenced. Each team will pay an entrance fee of 2s, and out of the proceeds a set of buttons will be procured for presentation to the winners. They will not become the property of the winning- pair (who will be open for challenge once the tournament is over), but. will be held by the winning pair from time to timei

The three games in which Waipawa were engaged were keenly contested, and although the team only succeeded in winning one out of the three the margin of points was small in each match. Against Waipukurau the local pis ye s in the early stages secured a 12 to 6 lead. Waipukurau then took a hand and the scores went to 18—12 (including-a six Io Waipukurau) in Waipukurau’s favor,. Waipukurau were one up on the 20th head,-and in the 21st Waipawa were lying the shot till Martin pushed it out, leaving Waipukurau two up and winners by three points, 21—18. In the game with Wairere the result was in doubt throughout, and at no stage was the difference in the scores more than three. At the 20th head Wairere we e 16, Waipawa 15. and in the final end the former added two to their total, making the scores Wairere 18, Waipawa 15. The game with Havelock North proved very exciting, after the tenth head, when Havelock North had a lead of 16 to 3. Waipawa then woke up, and a three and a six helped them considerably. On the fifteenth head they had got to within two points of their opponents’ score, the board reading—Havelock North 19, Waipawa 17. Both teams were now playing great bowls, and “Waipawa were successful in levelling up the scores with three singles, after Havelock had added one to their total. The last head went to Waipawa, who secured a single, the final scores being Waipawa 21, Havelock North 20.
