HALLOWE’EN.

A VARIED ENTERTAINMENT. An excellent entertainment was given in the Concert Hall last evening by the Home and School League, in celebration of Hallowe’en. The hall was packed. Under the able conductorship of the Rev. W. T. Drake the programme was kept going merrily, and there was not a dull moment. Mesdames Bibby, Walker, Strang, Lockhart, Preston and Miss Bibby took part in a playette, ‘ ‘ Miss Grizel Hallowe’en,” and the production was greatly appreciated. Songs were contributed by Mesdames Dyson and Strang, the Rev. 11. Dyson, and Mr J. Barker, the accompaniments being played by Mrs Drake. Recitations and sketches were given by Messrs Harker and Rawlings, Mrs Walker, and Miss N. Noell. Jacobite songs were rendered by the scholars of Stds. V. and VI., under the direction of Mr Hobin, Miss Kenplaying the accompaniments. Selections by Mr McKenzie, of Waipukurau, and his Highland dancers were a special feature of the evening’s programme, and on the motion of the Rev. W. T. Drake they were thanked by acclamation. The platform looked very striking with floral decoration’s of foliage and yellow flowers and the circle of beautifully costumed Highland dancers. Slipper was provided by members of the Home and School League, and the remainder of the evening was devoted to old-time dancing.
