THE SESSION
APPROACHING THE END. GOOD PROGRESS WITH BUSINESS. WELLINGTON, Last night. In view of the exceptional progress being made by the House of Representatives on the Estimates, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, expects to bring the session to an end bv Wednesday, December 7th, or within just under three weeks from the present. It was previously not anticipated that the business would be concluded until about December 20th, but certain developments have resulted in the way being- cleared considerably. Apart from Government hills ol comparatively minor importance, the only two measures still to be dealt with and which might block progress are the Government Superannuation Funds Bill and the bill to establish a Central Reserve Bank. As already stated, it is extremely doubtful whether the former measure will be gone on with this session after it has been reported back from the Select Committee. . , .
There is now a definite opinion that the Government will not proceed with the Central Reserve Bank Bill either. The measure will be introduced within the near future, but in any event no action will be taken until'after Mr Stewart has returned from London. This bill may prove a somewhat difficult obstacle for the Government to surmount, but it is stated that there is every possibility of the measure being dropped in the meantime.
