LORD ROSEBERY’S WILL
Probate has been granted of the will, dated January 21. 1925. with six rod icils. of the Jate Earl of Rosebery, former Prime Minister of Britain, who died on May 21 last, aged 82 rears. The English estate was sworn at £1.39(5.577 gross, with net personality £1,007,683. while a Rcottish grant in respect of £157.762 has been issued, making a total of £1,553,339. The bequests include the following:—MSß. copyrights and other literary property to testator’s daughter. Lady Sybil Grant; picture of tin* horse Eclipse by Stubbs, to his son-in-law. Brigadier-General Charles John Cecil Grant; first edition of Walton’s M Co ill pleat Angler,** to his son-in-law, the Marquis of C’rewe; £2OO to his night attendant, Thomas Short, if still in his service; £SO each to Albert Hawthorne, motor driver, and John Ralph and Frederick Shire, foot men. if still in his service; one year’s wages to his house steward, Joseph Liddle. whether still in his service or not; one year’s wages to each household servant male or female, whether in livery or not, stable servants in livery and head grooms at Grafton and The Durdnn’s it of 10 years' service, or 2 years’ wages if of 20 years’ service; £lO to each household or stable servant in his service at his decease if of three months’ service and not otherwise mentioned in his will; £SOOO to Archibald Bouverie Primrose.
To his sister, Ludv Mary Hope, any souvenir she may select, however valuable (except the portrait by Watts of his late wife and articles specially bequeathed.
