Tile New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company announces that the general manager, Mr H. H. Sterling, has been released to take up the position of chairman of the Railways Board at Mr Coates’ request. Mr Sterling held important positions on the railways till January, 1926, when he accepted the managership of the Dairy Company for seven years. Mr C. J. Parlane succeeds to the dairy miluagership.—(Press Assn.)

The funeral of the late Thomas Ireland, who passed away Inst Tuesday at the District Hospital after a short illness, took place yesterday afternoon. The interment was made in Hadley cemetery, the funeral being attended by many old friends and a very large number of relatives. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. J. Pigott. Deceased was a member of Loyal Abbotsford Lodge of Oddfellows for nearly 47 years. Out of respect to an old and esteemed brother he was accorded an Oddfellows’ funeral. Members of the Order acted as bearers and the service was read by P.G. Bro. L. Pratley. Very many beautiful wreaths were forwarded by sorrowing friends. Deceased leaves a widoiV and seven sons, Fred (Waipukurau), John and George (Waipawa), Ernest (Dannevirke), Thomas and Allan (Herhertville), Sidney (Marton), and two daughters, Mrs W. Bennett (Dannevirke), and Mrs S. Vesty (Waipukurau). To Mrs Ireland and relatives the sympathy of a large circle of friends has been extended. Deceased was of a bright and cheerful disposition, and he will be missed by very many old friends.
