FAMOUS LANDMARK.

ANCIENT MINT DESTROYED. One of Canterbury’s most famous landmarks, the building which formed part of the King’s Exchange, one of .he two mints of England in the 13th century, has been destroyed by fire. The building, which occupied a prom lent position in the High Street, dated jack to 1100.

A decree of Henry 111. provided hat “none Englishman or othei should make change of plate or mass silver, but only at his Exchange at London or Canterbury.”
