THE CUP.
SECOND RACE AWARDED TO RESOLUTE. THIRD RACE GOES TO AMERICA. (Electric Telegraph.—Copyright). NEW YORK, July 21. Owing to an increase in the Resolute’s time allowance, she won the second race. It is announced that, due to permission to the Shamrock to use a large club sail, the Resolute’s time illowance was increased to seven minutes one second, and she therelore won the race.
July 22. , The Resolute won the third race ay her time allowance, seven minutes me second. Both vessels finished in he same elapsed time. The third race was on a course 1 . thirty miles, a fifteen mile beat to vindward and a fifteen mile run home. I lie wind was light and the Shamrock tarted at 1.0.22 p.m. and the Resoute at 1.0.41 p.m,—(A. & N.Z.)
The Prime Minister sent the following cablegram to Sir Thomas Lip‘on at New York:—“On behalf of New Zealand, send you our heartiest 'ougra!illations on Shamrock’s vicorf- Nothing succeeds like success, ind British tenacity has at last come n for its due regard.—(Sgd.) Massey, Prime Minister.”
