ONGA ONGA.

(Own Correspondent). Master Frank Coles fell from a baker’s cart last Saturday, breaking one of his arms and dislocating his wrist. He was attended by Drs. Reed and Maddison. Mr Ed. Macfarlane is leaving the district shortly, having sold his farm to Mr Bradley, a returned soldier. A football match, Onga Onga v. Tikokino schoolboys, was played here on Wednesday, 18th, resulting in a win for the Onga team by 9- points to 3. A return match is to be played at Tikokino to-morrow (Friday). A meeting of the School Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs W. Coles (chairman), W. Willicombe, and A. Williams. Letters were read,from the Education Board relative to school libraries and the peace celebrations. The latter stated that the Board wished to make the Tuesday of the Peace Week a special day of rejoicing for the children, and suggested that a bonfire be lit on the highest point in the district at 7.30 in the evening. The inspector ’s report was received. It was considered highly satisfactory, and the secretary was instructed to convey to the teaching staff the committee’s appreciation of the result of their work. Mrs N. J. Nielsen had the misfortune the other day to sprain one of her ankles very badly, incapacitating her for some time.
