The Liberty Loan. «*-nwm irm ni^—• OPEN LETTER TO THE PEOPLE OF WAIPAWA. When tlio Minister of Finance lunuchad the prospectus for the Nine and a Half Million Liberty Loan he porsonslly asked evory local body in the Dominion to do its utmost to induce the people to subscribe, and in accordance with his expressed wish we now appeal to the residents of this district to support the loan to the utmost of their power. | Recent ii( YclopnitnL. on the Wes- ! tern front have shown how necessary I that support is. The war has now readied the most critical stage, a stage j when every man and every shilling j counts. If we fail at tliia juncture all our sacrifices during the past three and a half years will have been in vain. Those who cannot Bend sons to fight in the Empire's cause can asaist materially hy subscribing to the War Loan, for tho more men wo send the greater the financial burden. Without mohoy the soldiers fighting at the present time cannot be supported. Without money the soldiers who arc yet to go cannot be ellleiently trained. Even the soldiers at the front are setting the people of the Dominion an example by subscribing to tho loan, £13,000 having been raised amongst men on active service. If our troops can invest their small savings in a loan for tho defence of their country, a double duty devolves upon ub to give our united support. As a Council wo have accorded the loan our wholehearted support, and we earnestly appeal to the people of this district to do likewise. The time is short. MONDAY NEXT 1b the date of the closing of tho loan Send in your applications without delay. W. I. LIMBIIICK, Mayor. F. HOLT, 11. M. RATHBONE, W. FELLOW, n Jos. BIBBY, P. WITHEROW. E. H. BREWER, A. E. KING, l; M. BEBLBY, c Councillors. Walpawa, April 13th, 1918.
