Terrific Losses. A London message estimates the German casualties to date at four and a-half million. Overdue Ships. Three American, one British, and one Japanese boats are overdue and have been given up. The owners believe the loss is due to time bombs. America’s Fighting Force. A total of 1,300,000 men have voluntered in America for all the fighting services since the declaration of war, and 448,850 had been accepted. The total volunteers now on actual service, on both land and sea, was 943,141. Gunboats Released. The American gunboats interned in China were released immediately and are in a position to help to check the impending rising in southern China. Strike at Krupp’s. The “Lokal Anzeiger” says that hundreds of workmen in Krupp’s factories at Magdeburg have struck over the arrest of one of their leaders on a charge of spreading a seditious pamphlet urging a general strike. Help. In order to assist the Entente to the fullest the Chinese Government is investigating the facilities for exporting foodstuffs to the Allies.
