SHABBY TREATMENT.

OF WOUNDED SOLDIERS. (Special to “Mail.’’). WELLINGTON, Last night. Speaking in the Financial Debate, Mr G. Witty, M.P. for Riccarton, called attention to. the case of a man who had been wounded four times in defence of his country, and then his mather was tendered a second-class ticket, costing lid, for him, while some Johnnies, who had never been to the front, occupied the first-class carriages. (Hear, hear, and laughter). Dr. Thacker (Christchurch East); “What about the men who are holding back for commissions?”

Mr Witty: “Yes, some of them are holding back.” He contended that a man who had been wounded four times in defence of his country was entitled to better treatment than to be taken in a second-class carriage through the dirty Lyttelton tunnel. (Hear, hear).
