Speaking at the Parliamentary Committee welcome to the Socialist delegates, Mr Henderson said Britain would never deal with a Government that did not express the slightest regret for its crimes. Britain would never bend, whatever the duration of the war, to a peace in status quo. It meant certain war for the next generation to make peace now and would be a veritable crime. Only victory can guarantee peace. M. Goldenherg, a Russian delegate, said the Russians were grievously affected by the weakness of their front, but he protested against any idea that the Russians seek a separate peace.
