The Critical Period. Mr Churchill, speaking at Dundee, said the United States, fresh and unexhausted, was coming to the Allies ’ aid. It depended on Great Britain whether the European nations could hold out until American aid arrived. Explosion in Germany. German frontier guards state that an ammunition factory at Feringen blew up, 120 workmen being killed. Monarchy Ended. Speaking on behalf of the Government M. Kerensky said that he would give his solemn promise that any attempt to re-establish monarchial government would be kept down in the most decisive and energetie manner. Closing the Frontier. In view of the exceptional circumstances the Government has ordered the closing of the frontiers from August 15th. Nobody without a diplomatic passport will be allowed to enter or leave Russia. The Ex-Czar. The ex-Czar, while cycling in the gardens at Tsarkoe Selo fell and broke one of his legs. Paris Bombed. German aeroplanes bombarded Paris. The people were warned of the approach of German airships and the city was plunged in darkness. Fifty airmen chased the enemy away. Enemy Losses. Since April the Germans have employed on the Aisne and Champagne front 71 divisions, practically onethird of their entire army. Their enormous losses in three divisions caused the Germans to suppress several regiments, using the men to fill up other decimated divisions.
