PERSONAL ITEMS.

The Napier Technical Association has accepted the resignation of the director of the school, Mr W. Fossey, to date from to-morrow.

Last night’s meeting of tjie Waipawa District High School Committee passed a vote of sympathy with Mr and Mrs James Bibby in the loss they had sustained by the death of their son.

Mr Ben B. Johnson, previously of Waipawa and Napier, died at Coromandel this morning early. Deceased, who was well and favorably known throughout Hawke’s Bay, leaves .a wife, one son, and three daughters, all of whom are gro>vn-up, to mourn their loss. Much sympathy will be extended to them in their great affliction.

At last night’s meeting of the parishioners of St. Peter’s Parish, when the vicar’s report and resignation were under discussion, several members voiced their regret at the loss l lie parish would sustain by the departure of the vicar. Mr Wedde said he hoped the vicar’s decision was not final, and that he would take time io reconsider it. He also thought that efforts could and would be made to lighten the work which.so large a

district entailed on the vicar. Messrs Hogg and Rathbone endorsed the views of the previous speaker, the last-named stating that the decision would come as a great shock to the whole of the parish. The vicar, in thanking the speakers for the expressions of goodwill, said he had given the matter much thought and had decided that the interests of the parish would he best served by a younger man. He regretted leaving, as he had made many friends, and thought his labors had met with some little success. Therefore he could not see his way to withdraw his resignation and had asked the Bishop for an appointment to a lighter charge.
