HONORS FOR BRAVE NEW ZEALANDERS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Reuter Message. (Received This Day, 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 27. The Military Cross has been awarded to Lieut. C. T. Gillespie, a New Zealander, for extinguishing burning boxes of ammunition under heavy shell fire. He worked amidst exploding shells with a total disregard of danger. Two men assisting, Sapper W. Butler and Corporal Morris, New Zealanders, were awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for heroic artillery engineering feats.
