WAIPUKURAU.

(Own Correspondent),

The trees ordered by the Borough Council for the further beautifying of Russell Park have come to hand, and the date for the planting of same will be announced later.

The premises of Messrs Mercer and Bull, tobacconists, were broken into last night or early this morning. Admittance was gained by breaking a hole in the glass door, largo enough to admit a hand, which was then inserted and the lock inside the door was undone, thus making an easy entrance for the intruder. Nothing of any special value has so far been missed. A large sum of money was in the safe at the time, but this was left untouched. The secretary of the Waipukurau and District Branch of the Red Cross Society acknowledges with thanks the following donations and work for the last fortnight:—Further proceeds from the Patriotic Shop £4 9s, Mrs Swain 5s Cd, Mrs White (Sherwood), £2 2s, Mrs Scott 2 pairs socks, Mrs Simmons 2 Balaclavas, Mrs R.
