A MILLION MEN.

TO BE SENT BY AMERICA. AN IMPREGNABLE LINE. Australian & N.Z. Cable Association. (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 24. The “World’s” Washington correspondent states that the new War Budget means that the authorities hope to send a million men abroad within a year, starting immediately. Two additional drafts of 500,000 each will be called up while the first contingents are leaving. The correspondent adds that nine American officers who inspected the West front have returned and submitted an official report stating that the German line is practically impregnable unless tremendous assistance is received from the United States. He saw no evidence that Germany’s backbone had been broken by internal dissension or food shortage.
