OBITUARY.
JOHN SELWYN BIBBY. Very general and widespread regret was felt when it became known yesterday morning that John Selwyn, third son of Mr Jas. Bibby, had passed away, at the early age of seventeen years. For some weeks past deceased had suffered from a serious illness, and grave fears had been entertained. Of a bright personality, his many school friends will miss him greatly; he was secretary of St. .Peter’s Sunday School, in school athletic circles a fleet runner, and in football matters an enthusiastic member. The funeral, which was numerously attended, and took place at Ilndley Cemetery this afternoon, included the local clergy, and was taken by Archdeacon .Cullwick. At the close of the service the Rev. Mr Foston addressed a few words of sympathy to the bereaved family. Six of the Senior Cadets acted as pall-bearers, and the school flag was half-masted. Memorial wreaths of choice order were received from St. Peter’s Sunday School, congregations of the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches, Divisional and Staff officers of the Salvation Army, staff and pupils of the District High School, Senior Cadets (of which organisation he was a member), District High School Committee, Borough Council, Ladies’ Patriotic Committee, Women’s Temperance Union Committee, staff of firm of E. Bibby, and representatives of the business firms and private families in the tawn. He is not lost—he lives, he lives for
aye, To these rent hearts this healing hope is given, When from our sight loved ones pass away, All that seems lost to earth, is found in Heaven.
